The Uplift Foundation Scholarship (2024-2025)
About Our Scholarship
Here, you will find the application for the Epsilon Pi Uplift Foundation Scholarship Contest; a scholarship application for college bound high school seniors residing in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
The Epsilon Pi Uplift Foundation is the philanthropic arm of The Epsilon Pi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Our chapter is located at Chester, Pennsylvania and is composed primarily of men who live within the Delaware County and surrounding area. Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was initially conceived to enrich the social and intellectual aspects of college life. Our founders dedicated themselves to public service and believed that college educated men had something to give mutually that the University could not provide.
Throughout the years, the Epsilon Pi Chapter Scholarship fundraisers have provided over $75,000 to deserving high school students matriculating to college and we are pleased to offer this opportunity to Delaware County students looking to continue their education after high school.
In keeping with our cardinal principle of Scholarship, our annual scholarship contest promotes academic excellence among college bound high school seniors. This year we will award a minimum of two (2) scholarships for the upcoming 2024 – 2025 academic year. Our two scholarship awardees will receive $1,000 dollars each at minimum. The Foundation and its Board may decide to increase the award amount or number of awards depending on a variety of factors like the foundation’s financial position and donations received.
Scholarship Instructions
Students interested in competing for the scholarships must provide the following information to the scholarship committee by the 10th of May, 2024:
- An official copy of their high school transcript with raised seal (physically mailed to the address stated below).
- A submission of a copy of your SAT or ACT scores.
- A completed scholarship application (downloadable below).
- A signed and dated certification statement (downloadable below).
- A 1000-1500 word well organized and prepared typewritten essay.
- Submission of three (3) recommendations (forms downloadable below)
The essay should be an argumentative essay, in prose, that abides by the
common principles of composition. Quality of composition will be reflected
in the final evaluation, especially as it adds to or detracts from the
effectiveness of the argument. We want the essays to demonstrate the
ability of the student to use research materials and, most importantly, to
synthesize those thoughts and findings into an essay that is argumentative
in nature yet persuasive. All essays must be typed and double-spaced.
Students should write on the following topic:
Discuss why you applied for this scholarship and why you feel you are a good candidate for the award. State your position, defend your answer, most importantly, answer the question. The evaluation criteria the Scholarship Committee will use to judge the essays is part of the downloadable application packet and it is certainly advisable that interested students use this to guide them as they write their essays. The essay can be written electronically (then printed and uploaded alongside the other application packet documents as a PDF), submitted as a Microsoft Word document, or even written on a separate sheet of paper (to be uploaded alongside the other application packet documents as a PDF).
It is our intent to recognize the winners of our scholarships at their annual senior awards program in the spring, so please let us know the date of your school’s senior award program when submitting the application below. Even if a representative for our chapter is not able to attend an awardee’s senior awards program, the actual monetary award will be dispersed to the recipient’s college or university (once written proof of their enrollment is received).
Students must submit, electronically, a completed scholarship packet, which includes an application, SAT or ACT scores, personal essay, and three letters of recommendation by May 10, 2023 by using the Application Submission Form below or email them to:
